LONDON, ENGLAND – SEPTEMBER 24: Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa shoots under pressure from Levi Colwill of Chelsea during the Premier League match between Chelsea FC and Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on September 24, 2023 in London, England. (Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty Images) /

Levi Colwill (Centerback) No. 26, England

Colwill did all he could for the goal Chelsea eventually conceded at the weekend. He blocked the shot, but Ollie Watkins struck the rebound near-post and Robert Sanchez was beaten. The earlier Colwill stops being deployed as a left back the better for the team.

Marc Cucurella (Left back) No. 3, Spain

Rumors are already circulating that Cucurella is considering a January move. This should come as no surprise as he has played just one competitive game for the west London side so far. Chelsea has three senior left backs, and while they need to keep two of them, they may end up instead losing two of them by the end of the January transfer window. Expect the Spaniard to come into the starting lineup against Brighton.

Lesley Ugochukwu (Central midfielder) No. 16, France

Ugochukwu had a good game when he came on against Villa. This is another opportunity for him to give the manager a selection headache if he plays well against a good team like the seasiders.

Enzo Fernandez (Central midfielder) No. 8, Argentina

At some point, the Enzo-as-an-Attacking-Midfielder (EaaAM) experiment will be discarded, and hopefully, that point comes sooner rather than later. Everything good about the Argentina World Cup winner has been nullified by playing him closer to goal. Some fans think his playing as a No. 10 is logical, however, zero chances created in his last 180 minutes of football suggests that, perhaps, he should be returned to play as a central midfielder, which is what he is.
