The Pride of London talk about the Chelsea squad amid the arrival of a fresh injury update. And it is bad news for the Blues on defender Ben Chilwell. Ian Maatsen, Levi Colwill or forgotten man Marc Cucurella will have to step up now. Meanwhile CFC head coach Mauricio Pochettino reveals that he wishes to be more involved in transfer recruitment – and rightly so.

Chilwell appeared to be kind of out of favour with his new boss in recent times. Even so far as centreback-by-trade Levi Colwill came in and supplanting the senior England international. Chilwell now has a hamstring issue which might perhaps prevent him from featuring for the west London outfit for quite a while. Pochettino was quoted as saying that the athlete suffered a ‘bad‘ injury, but failed to confirm a timescale for a return to action.

Mauricio Pochettino wants to be further involved in Chelsea’s transfer dealings, especially following the uneven summer window spree which left certain Blues areas light

Can somebody please explain to me why football bosses are not more involved in signings these days? You wouldn’t expect a warehouse manager to be out of the loop regarding hiring – so why does it happen in this industry? Anyway, thankfully ‘Poch’ aims to have a ‘bigger role‘ in the Blues’ future business.
