Chelsea are reportedly preparing themselves in an attempt to sign two Premier League stars during the January transfer window. Will the Blue secure either Ivan Toney or Aaron Ramsdale in the new year, or both? The Pride of London examine the media stories and give views as the west Londoners aim to steal one Arsenal man and beat the north London team to another wanted by both clubs.

I have made the point a few times recently that a mobile focal point striker is required at Chelsea. I know every other writer, pundit, journalist and fan believe the Blues need an elite striker as well. Ivan Toney would certainly come close to the top of my realistic wishlist. The Englishman actually remains fairly underrated following what he has achieved and how he has performed at Brentford, another side in pretty close proximity to Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

Being a homegrown talent is definitely one of the main plus points to this potential deal; a few decent players of that description are necessary in all EPL outfits. Toney’s strength and determination are key attributes. Yet it is, obviously, the calibre of centreforward here that really sets him apart. He scores almost every type of goal you would wish to see: headers, long-range drives, free-kicks, acrobatic finishes, along with getting on the end of well-worked moves for tap-ins. Furthermore, and encouragingly, the 27-year-old’s value has supposedly decreased from £80million to £65m. CFC may have to overcome Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to acquire Toney.

Chelsea target Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for transfer

Now that I have seen a fair amount of Robert Sanchez at Chels’ – I am unconvinced that he is the right goalkeeper for Pochettino. Ramsdale would be an upgrade. And the Blues are said to be preparing a January bid for the stopper.
