Chelsea vs Brentford: 2 young Blues who deserve a chance in west London
2. Dorde Petrovic
Is Robert Sanchez the goalkeeper on the future? Frankly, no. As much as he has made a positive impact early on, his flaws were there for all to see in last weekend’s London derby. Aaron Ramsdale and Mike Maignan are reportedly near the top of the west London side’s list for January.
With that, it has to be said, many are forgetting about the Serbian who came over with the reputation as Major League Soccer’s best stop-stopper. Yeah, yeah, I know it’s the MLS. Still, at just 24-years old, Dorde Petrovic is worth investing in. Sure, it’s early, but if there was an excuse to change the player between the posts, last week was it.
It would be a bold statement, but Petrovic’s outings for his national team and over in the United States speak for themselves. Poch, make the call. The last Serbian to make a full home debut for the west London side was Jelena Cankovic for the women’s team. In 69 minutes as the club’s No. 10, Cankovic converted two chances. That’s what you call winning over a fanbase. It’s time to continue that Serbian trend.
Chelsea vs. Brentford will be broadcast on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate in the UK and USA Network in the United States on Saturday morning.
