The third round of the EFL Cup against Brighton helped Chelsea immensely as the one goal victory gave Pochettino’s Blues the boost they needed. However after three consecutive victories, Mikel Arteta’s men travelled to the Bridge for an awaited London Derby. Chelsea played exceptionally well taking a two goal lead in the game, however two unfortunate errors lead to Arsenal robbing two points off us.
That game was followed by another London Derby against the Bees. As usual the creative department kept feeding balls into the box without registering assists to their name. And after conceding a goal in the second half, the Blues simply never looked like beating Brentford’s low block.
Chelsea host Blackburn Rovers next in the Round of 16 of the EFL Cup. The Gaffer should be making good use of this fixture as there are multiple players who are in dire need of minutes and confidence and a positive result would definitely be very beneficial to the side.
Chelsea Predicted XI (4-2-3-1)
Goalkeeper: Djorde Petrovic (Serbia)
Robert Sanchez has experienced a very dramatic start to life at Chelsea. From fans calling him the worst signing of the new era under Boehly and Clearlake to him becoming a fan’s favorite with his acrobatic saves. However he was totally responsible for Arsenal’s comeback and then continued to make errors against Thomas Frank’s Brentford.
So this would be an ideal time to give Serbian International Djorde Petrovic his CFC debut. He was one of the best keepers that the MLS have witnessed over the last few years and the Pundits believe that once he settles in, the Spaniards spot in goal would be in danger.
