Chelsea welcomed Blackburn Rovers to the Bridge for the fourth round of the EFL Cup. The result was a convincing 2-0 win that would have surprised no one, considering how the game went. The Blues were on top of Blackburn for the entirety of the game, and they barely allowed the second-division side a sniff at their goal. There were no poor performances, but some of Mauricio Pochettino’s men stood out indeed. Here are three CFC stars who impressed:

Enzo Fernandez (No. 8) Central midfielder, Chelsea, Argentina

Fernandez was in his element picking up the ball in all areas of the pitch and sending it where he wanted it to go. The Argentine’s outing was made excellent by how good he was out of possession, in addition to how good he was on the ball. Fernandez did not give the Blackburn players any breeding space, chasing down players and winning the ball back for Chelsea the few times the home side lost possession.

The former Benfica midfielder also created a whopping seven chances, won a game-high 11 duels, and was fouled five times, with no one getting fouled more than him. He made 16 passes into the final third, while attempting just three long balls, highlighting his superb positioning and pass selection. The Blues No. 8 took the joint-highest two shots on target and won 6/6 tackles he contested. Creating the most chances, winning the most tackles, winning the most fouls, and winning the most duels, highlights how completely dominant the World Cup winner was last night.
