Benoit Badiashile: 9/10

The 22-year-old central defender is playing for the first time in Chelsea blue since last May. Badiashile was reunited with his ex-Monaco teammate, Axel Disasi, after recovering from a lengthy hamstring injury that saw him miss preseason and the first two and a half months of the season. The Frenchman immediately reminded everyone what he’s all about with his defensive presence and passing range. Badiashile topped off his performance with a goal at the half-hour mark. ‘Big Ben’ has made decisions difficult for Pochettino as the Frenchman looks fit to start against London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, on Monday.

Marc Cucurella: 7/10

It’s another solid defensive display by Cucurella. The Spaniard is in his best form for the club at a vital time and can play on both the right and left, which is quite useful as the season progresses. As I mentioned, Cucurella thrives defensively but looked a bit average in attack. However, according to Fotmob, the 25-year-old created two chances. Other than that, his defensive stats are worth looking at. With eight recoveries, three tackles, and five duels won, Cucurella may have saved his Chelsea career, as it was looking bleak last August.

Lesley Ugochukwu: 7.5/10

A very solid match for the young man, and he deserves to be given more minutes as the season goes on. The Frenchman is very solid defensively and is also able to pick out passes from deep. With seven recoveries, five ground duels won, a block, and an interception, Ugochukwu looks to be a very handy tool.

Enzo Fernandez: 9.5/10

Just wow, he was everywhere, wasn’t he? In attack and doing his fair bit defensively, it was one of Fernandez’s finest performances but again, it was against Blackburn with all due respect. With seven key passes, 11 ground duels won, four tackles, nine recoveries, and 102 passes with a 93 percent success rate, the Argentine was simply doing everything in the middle of the park. The only thing missing to make this performance a 10/10 is a goal contribution; the World Cup winner had several chances to score but couldn’t convert, and many of his passes weren’t executed.
