Tottenham 1-4 Chelsea: Blues player ratings
By Abdul Abdullahi
Robert Sanchez: 6/10
The goal wasn’t his fault as it took a wicked deflection that caught him off guard. The Spaniard’s passing was very suspect at times, causing immense pressure against his side. However, Sanchez did make a big save on Heung-Min Son to deny the equalizer late into the game.
Reece James (C): 7/10
The captain starts once again and put in a decent shift. Just like everyone on the pitch in the opening 15 minutes, looked suspect but gradually grew into the match. Some may say he should’ve been sent off just outside the interval but we move. Reece James recorded the highest number of successful ball recoveries (10) among players from both Tottenham and Chelsea.
Thiago Silva: 5.5/10
Grew into the game much like everyone but was still relatively quiet after the first half. Done well when asked and got the job, we’ve seen better however.
Axel Disasi: 5.5/10
It was a meh performance for Disasi, and we’ve seen better from him. There were many wayward passes that could have punished the team on another day. He also grew into the match much like Silva but the pair gets the same rating.
Levi Colwill: 4.5/10
The Cobham graduate came off at halftime after that dramatic first half of football. He looked very uncomfortable and was very sloppy, especially in the opening 15 minutes, which saw the goal come from his side. Colwill also picked up a needless yellow in the closing stages of the half, which may be an indicating factor for being taken off by Pochettino.
Enzo Fernandez: 6.5/10
Won the penalty which saw Palmer score. Other than that, we’ve seen much better performances from the World Cup winner but was relatively decent. Was hooked off just before the hour mark and hope the injury isn’t bad.
Conor Gallagher: 7.5/10
Big game player Gallagher further demonstrated why he’s still a key player for the Blues. Handling both defensive and attacking responsibilities, the academy graduate was omnipresent on the pitch. Gallagher created the highest number of chances (5) among players from both Tottenham and Chelsea.
Moisés Caicedo: 7/10
It was another solid performance for Caicedo, barring the unlucky disallowed goal. It was, however, a good strike, but I digress. The £115m signing grew into the game and was unfortunate not to have his first Chelsea goal. His passing, I would like to add, is very underrated and it shouldn’t go down under the radar.
