Three Blues standouts from Chelsea 4-4 Manchester City
Raheem Sterling
When Raheem Sterling is on his game there’s few Premier League defenses that can contain the Englishman. For many moments during this game Sterling was Chelsea’s only consistent attacking threat, consistently recking havoc against his former teammate Kyle Walker and driving at the City defense confidently.
The 28-year old’s entire attacking arsenal was on display at Stamford Bridge, tearing City’s defense to shreds with his dribbling and creating chances for his teammates as well. His goal in the 37th minute was the product of his persistence and gave Chelsea the lead. Sterling’s cross into the box led to Armando Broja being fouled and fellow ex-Citizen Cole Palmer would then score the winning penalty. While the idea of a project with a young side with loads of talent sounds great, Chelsea don’t win this match if Mykhailo Mudryk or Noni Madueke start ahead of the more seasoned Sterling.
Cole Palmer
He has the swagger, the technical ability, the output, and most of all he consistently shows up when it matters. Cole Palmer is the real deal. The 21-year-old has scored four out of four penalties for Chelsea this season with his penalty in the 95th minute of stoppage time saving the result for the Blues.
