Chelsea 4-4 Man City: 3 standout Blues
By Malcom David
The emergence of Palmer in this CFC side is one of the many reasons why fans can be optimistic about the future. In every game the 21-year-old has played he’s always in contention to be one of the best players on the pitch and has displayed a level of consistency only seen in some of the best players in the league. We can rave about his performance and attributes again, but Palmer effortlessly delivering in a game of this magnitude, considering the context and all the buildup with increased reports about why he left Man City, is a testament that he’s going to be a star for years to come.
Conor Gallagher
What Conor Gallagher does for this Chelsea team, no other player in this squad is capable of doing. From minute one to the depths of stoppage time at the end of the match, Gallagher was constantly giving his all, throwing himself on the pitch for every tackle, recovering every loose ball and leading the press in disturbing the opposition’s build-up. It’s telling that while our 100 million signings Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo were subbed off and relegated to watching from the bench at the tail end of a crucial match, the underappreciated Gallagher was there showing why Mauricio Pochettino has put his faith in him.
The current stand-in vice-captain has also massively improved his ability on the ball, now patient in his decision making and passing, attributes he lacked last season. If Gallagher continues to put in performances like this, any conversations about selling him, regardless of the price, will be heavily muted.
