Nicolas Jackson, Striker: 7

Jackson showed superb anticipation to get to the rebound first to equalize the game at 3-3. The movement he made in that play is the kind of movement and deadliness Chelsea fans would want to see for 90 minutes from the Senegalese, not whatever he does by dropping deep to pick up the ball and run at defenders.

Malo Gusto (64′), Right back: 6

Gusto played well but he got a big chance to put the Blues ahead and he put his shot so far off target it went completely over the bar. He won 2/3 duels and 1/2 tackles.

Mykhailo Mudryk (64′), Left winger: 6

Mudryk was underwhelming again, though he seemed to make an impact when he came on, assisting Gallagher for the shot he took that led to the rebound by Jackson. He completed no dribbles from two contested though.

Armando Broja (90′), Striker: 6

Broja gets a rating because he played more than 10 minutes on the day, despite coming on in the 90th minute. Broja had only one contribution to the game, and it was quite a significant one as it turned out. He won the penalty that Palmer converted.

Lesley Ugochukwu (98′): N/A

What do you expect from a player who played one minute of a 100-minute game? Nothing? Yeah.

Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea manager: 7.5

His team selection was not spot on, though many will say it was because of how the game turned out, but the argument can be made that Benoit Badiashile would have helped Chelsea in this game more than Silva did. The tactical approach from the Argentine manager was spot on though, deciding to press City high up the pitch throughout the game.

The decision to bring in Broja was a masterstroke too, even though the argument can also be made that the penalty Broja won was as much down to his cleverness as it was to Ruben Dias’s recklessness. The tactical approach enabled the Blues to compete against Man City, which is not something the west London side has been able to do for many years now, and for that, the former Paris Saint Germain manager deserves credit.
