Perisset sparked the attack for the Kerr goal, sliding a pass between the lines into Sjoeke Nusken in a four pass combination that led to the goalkeeper picking the ball out of the net. No. 15 was arguably the best new signing of last season. That momentum has carried right into this one. Since playing just 20 minutes combined in the first three games, Hayes has had no other option than to slot Perisset into the right back position.

1. Jessie Fleming pieced together another quality display in the midfield

Few could predict what Fleming’s role was going to be in 2023/2024. What is her best position in west London? That question has been something everyone has been attempting to answer since she moved across to pond to the English capital.

Two straight starts for No. 17 in the midfield has brought up numerous encouraging signs. The UCLA product had the third most touches in the Everton box, improvising to score a right-footed volley for her first goal of the campaign. With Guro Reiten still not quite fit yet to step onto the pitch, there is going to be a lot more of the roaming Fleming in the middle of the park.

Fleming was fouled more than any Blue, constantly disrupting the Toffees play while contributing to the west London side’s build-up. The attacking midfielder was constantly carrying the ball forward, nutmegging Karen Holmgaard on one occasion within a darting progressive run in the final third. Fleming was taken off after 63 minutes, quite possibly because Hayes wants to start her in the mid-week.
