Chelsea want to sign goalkeeper in January but it won’t be this target
The Pride of London detail a Chelsea transfer rumour as it is reported that the Blues want to sign a goalkeeper in January – but it won’t be this target. Meanwhile, someone at Chelsea sent Alan Shearer a text after the former Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United and England hero criticised Nicolas Jackson.
Mauricio Pochettino must be as unconvinced by Robert Sanchez as the rest of us. Occasionally the Spaniard looks great with his feet or shot-stopping. But there is a lot wrong as well.
Aaron Ramsdale is reportedly desired at Stamford Bridge in replacement. However, Arsenal are said to be unwilling to relinquish their asset. Read more on that speculation here.
Hey, Alan, Chelsea here
£32million Jackson has taken his time to settle. Although, people should definitely remember that he is not at a settled club. The west Londoners are steadily improving, but things aren’t settling down much. The frantic contest with Manchester City illustrated that to us all in dramatic fashion. Yet the fact that Jackson has begun to score at a decent rate of late, and his determination to succeed, are aspects that the entire Blues fan base has waited to see.
So Alan Shearer’s recent criticism wasn’t helpful for the Senegalese striker. A slightly unfair and certainly negative critique from a legendary centreforward could knock a regularly struggling attacker’s confidence. On the other hand, maybe Jackson was spurred on by the retired Three Lions man’s thoughts.
Shearer said that the 22-year-old is raw, which is kind of true. Not to mention the Magpies hero saying that Jackson is occasionally devoid of the right ideas on the pitch. Along with pointing to a lack of effort from the young forward. And the 53-year-old claims to have actually received a text message from inside the Chelsea camp which sort of agreed with his verdict.
