This is when the depth of the team is going to come to use. The games are coming thick and fast. Time on the training ground is limited. The good thing is this is not Emma Hayes’ first rodeo enduring these kinds of stretches with Chelsea Women.

Just two full days. That is all this club gets to digest Wednesday’s heist. Coming off a brutal result in the Spanish capital, the west London outfit returns to Stamford Bridge for an encounter with its rivals in northern England, Liverpool.

The Reds have not competed since last Sunday when Norwegian international Sophie Roman Haug netted her first goal in the Women’s Super League to earn a draw against Tottenham. Roman Haug, a member of AS Roma’s Serie A winning team was the seventh and final addition from the summer transfer window. She became the third forward, and fourth attacking-minded player LFC brought in to improve its prior league position.

Adding someone who has scored a hat trick in a World Cup match was vital for Matt Beard’s side. A few days prior to that acquisition, the club sent Katie Stengel, the club’s leading scorer in the 2022/2023 WSL campaign to NJ/NY Gotham FC in the NWSL. We all remember Stengel. Not in a positive light though. She was the player that scored two penalties in the Reds’ shock triumph on the opening day of last season.

That was the only victory for the northwest English side against the west London outfit in history. In the three fixtures these two competed in last season, LFC executed a multi-goal performance twice.
