According to a former Chelsea player, these Blues stars used to run the dressing room with the ex-owner’s blessing. Meanwhile Cole Palmer is lauded by a fellow senior England star and former Manchester City teammate.
Mikel John Obi has revealed some information about a famous and past Chelsea team that will validate many fans’ guesses. Mikel said that a quartet of ‘big guys’ – and Ashley Cole – held one-time chief Roman Abramovich’s attention. Obviously most of the CFC icons outlived numerous managers in the era.
"“The chat happens between the big guys: JT, Frank, Didier and Petr Cech and a little bit of Ashley [Cole]. It’s not like a chat where they go ‘we’re going to go at you’, but the one person we really didn’t like was Rafa [Benitez], because he wasn’t a Chelsea kind of manager, and AVB.“AVB was younger than most of the players, younger than Frank, younger than JT, and for some reason, he stopped playing Frank and Frank didn’t take that well so there was a little bit of a rift.”More here"
Cole Palmer’s praise continues from all angles
Palmer wasn’t overly involved when making his cameo against Malta for England on Friday evening. But to make his Three Lions debut is a wonderful achievement for the lad, besides being very promising for CFC in general. He did, however, make a lovely run which lifted fans from their feet. Gareth Southgate’s men were eventually victorious with a 2-0 win. Palmer can be very proud.
We already know that the playmaker’s now-former Man City friends rate him. In fact, we know that his one-time colleagues consider him a threat. Just look at how members of the in-game Citizens huddle reacted when Palmer tried to listen in on their discussions during the 4-4 draw with Chels‘ last weekend. Obviously Erling Haaland saw the funny side, even at the time. I bet Haaland didn’t enjoy his now-opponent quietly and deftly influencing the huge match.
Man City star Phil Foden knows how good Palmer is and he isn’t afraid to admit it, either. Foden believes that the 21-year-old possesses ‘tremendous quality’. The England regular says his current Premier League rival and competitor for an attacking national role is so relaxed on the pitch. Not to mention that it looks as though Palmer has been doing it for years at this level. I think we all agree there.
