Fabrizio Romano has revealed the Premier League star Chelsea eyed as Cole Palmer alternative. Would Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku have been a good signing? In addition to examining that story, The Pride of London analyse Blues fitness news prior to the Newcastle United trip.

Let’s be clear here: I don’t consider Palmer a winger. I am sure he is more than capable of playing there for his club in the EPL or his country in any competition. Yet, the young Blue is so talented that, as with James Maddison at Tottenham Hotspur, using Palmer centrally would be more productive by constantly involving him.

CFC were reportedly considering a wingman as an alternative to Palmer. And that man is Doku. The Man City attacker would have been a top signing at Stamford Bridge. But I’m not sure fans would swap Palmer for many options. Romano explains here.

Some early team news ahead of Newcastle United vs Chelsea

The main question Blues fans want answering is: when will Christopher Nkunku make his debut for the west London side? Well, I cannot provide a definitive answer to that query. However, I can let you know what Poch said before the boring international break. Essentially the former Spurs head coach claimed that his forward is especially close to featuring for CFC.

However, the boss and the medical department are being careful and don’t want the ex-RB Leipzig man playing too much or too soon. So we might not see Nkunku against Newcastle United at the end of November. We are more likely to get a glimpse of the attacker in some capacity or another versus Brighton & Hove Albion at the beginning of December.

While we await the potentially exciting arrival of the France international, let’s see who else from the Chels’ camp is out of action. Defenders Malo Gusto and Levi Colwill are both now doubts for the Magpies match.
