Chelsea are reportedly targeting a young goal machine who is on the verge of the big time in Italy with AC Milan. While Mauricio Pochettino has his say on the ‘worst’ Chelsea performance this season at Newcastle United, as the Blues lose by a three-goal margin.

At just 15 years old, Francesco Camarda is becoming popular in Italian households as he prepares to make his senior debut. He is considered one of the best prospects in the country; the AC Milan striker has netted an unfathomable 400 goals at youth level. This earned the attention of Chelsea and others:

"90min understands that Milan have promised Camarda a huge role in their future, but as he is ineligible to sign a professional contract until his 16th birthday in March, they risk losing him until then.Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City have all made overtures to Camarda’s family regarding a move to England, while Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund are also looking to snatch him from under the noses of Milan.Sources have told 90min that Camarda’s family are settled in Milan and it’s likely he will put pen-to-paper on a professional deal at San Siro once he turns 16, but the club remain worried about such outside interest in his services.– Sean Walsh, Graeme Bailey"

Mauricio Pochettino labelled Chelsea’s defeat at Newcastle United the Blues’ worst this season

Pochettino was not best pleased after the final whistle at St. James’ Park on Saturday evening. And rightly so. The highly regarded Argentinian manager wasn’t on the sideline for the big game up north in matchweek 13. The former Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain head coach was in the stand due to accumulating too many yellow cards this season. Bosses are more frequently booked this Premier League campaign, whilst players also seem to be punished more readily than in recent years.

And ‘Poch’ felt the ban, and maybe leaned his lesson. He admitted that it was frustrating not being able to “influence” the match as he does on occasion while barking orders from the so-called technical area. Even the gaffer’s interview with the light and fluffy official Chelsea Football Club website, ChelseaFC.com, was a slightly tastier than usual.

Careful to direct his critique toward the team as a whole – as opposed to singling out underperforming stars, as we at PoL have to do – Pochettino said CFC were ‘second best’ in the 4-1 defeat to the Magpies. He suggested that neither side were respectively at their best, but designated Blues efforts as the poorest in quality of 2023/24.
