3. Conor Gallagher

After looking like one of Chelsea’s best players as of late, Conor Gallagher unfortunately had his worst match of the season today. Gallagher’s performance is a stinging reminder of why the Blues will need Christopher Nkunku back sooner rather than later. The 23-year-old had one of the best chances to put Chelsea ahead in the first half when the score was 1-1.  Nick Pope gifted the ball straight at his feet, but poor finishing haunted the Cobham product once again as he scuffed a left-footed effort in the box wide.

Gallagher was also getting dispossessed on numerous occasions and his usual saving grace in his defending let him down as he looked more reckless than composed. Should Gallagher be dropped because of this showing? Probably not. It’s easy to forget all the positive performances he’s had this season after this loss. Yet Chelsea fans will now be impatiently awaiting Christopher Nkunku’s return. After today, it would be much easier to make Gallagher the sacrificial lamb in the No.10 role for the Frenchman’s return to the starting XI.
