The Pride of London comment on two stories in the football media. Ian Maatsen’s future may now be clearer. Meanwhile Chelsea plan a transfer hijack for an in demand striker.

While some of us wonder why Maatsen doesn’t feature regularly, his situation might possibly have become more illuminated. CFC want to offer him a long-term contract.

If re-signed, the Dutchman could go out on loan in the New Year. He’s previously been loaned to Coventry City, Charlton Athletic and Burnley.

The prolific Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord is on Chelsea’s wishlist – is the Mexico international a realistic leading Blues centreforward? Backup players are also required for all positions of a Premier League squad, as well

It is very widely reported that Mauricio Pochettino wants a top striker at Stamford Bridge. The more I see of Nicolas Jackson, the less convinced I am that he could potentially become he first choice CFC front mma. Maybe the Senegalese could play a good understudy role for the west London side. Even that capacity may be up for debate soon if further attacking reinforcements are acquired.

Although, any athlete coming to Fulham Road, young or old, will definitely consider himself good enough to be Chelsea’s eventual main main. However delusional that belief has been over recent times thanks to unqualified signings. Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen are currently the popular names most frequently linked with the famed English capital team.

Toney wouldn’t have far to move in London from Brentford if he is the eventual signee. I imagine Osimhen is the actual priority option for Pochettino, though Toney is an exceptional candidate. Elsewhere, claims of Chels’ moving for Santiago Gimenez were recently published.

dark. Next. Reece James returns for this game but who’ll replace the Chelsea captain?

Now, Gimenez might well ultimately make a great centreforward in his career; he fits the CFC profile because he is a precocious footballing talent. But, like Jackson, I don’t think the 22-year-old should be relied on as a sole hitman for such a mammoth club. Many other EPL outfits are apparently interested, too.
