The Pride of London wonder if a future Welsh star could become Chelsea’s latest high profile young signing. And what Marc Cucurella tried to ‘erase’ following the rather annoying defeat to Newcastle United, which sent the Blues back a few steps after recent progress.
Chelsea’s programme to sign the best up-and-coming starlets the footballing world has to offer will likely reconvene in January. The winter transfer window also offers an opportunity to actually capture a capable senior striker for the Blues side. But don’t hold your breath. Meanwhile, young Cruz Allen has been named as a CFC target:
"The 16-year-old midfielder is making waves for Derby County in the Under-18s league, while he has also impressed playing for Wales Under-17s. He has been involved in six goals in seven matches this season (three goals and three assists) and has impressed watching scouts from some of the Premier Leagues biggest names. As well as [Manchester] United, The Sun credit Newcastle United and Chelsea with interest in the young Welshman, who was born in England but has a Welsh-born father.By Jon Doel"
What Chelsea fullback Marc Cucurella said after the Newcastle United loss
Chelsea went backwards against an understrength yet organised and deadly Newcastle outfit. Although the Blues are a work in progress – an evolution that could take a couple of years as opposed to months to properly gel – some of that progression was swiftly wiped out at St. James’ Park. And some CFC stars were quick to ask for forgiveness, like the honourable Thiago Silva, who made a fatal error against the Magpies.
Elsewhere, Cucurella spoke to the media in no uncertain terms. This interview was given around the same time that Mauricio Pochettino labelled his collective team as “soft”. The Argentine was displeased after the match, to say the least. The Spaniard, meanwhile, said that the Chels’ squad must “delete” the disappointing contest from their individual memories.
In addition to that, the left-footer insisted that the Blues have to watch their mistakes back in order to learn from them. Showing character in Sunday’s game versus his former club Brighton & Hove Albion is essential, he adds. Furthermore, ‘Cucu’ admits that Chelsea’s performance was bad; at least he admitted that sad fact. The ex-Seagull won’t play versus Brighton because he is serving a one-match ban for accumulating too many yellow cards.
