Liverpool legend considers 3 Chelsea stars inadequate
Liverpool legend Steve Nicol considers three Chelsea stars not good enough for the Blues side. But which CFC players are inadequate according to the pundit? Meanwhile striker Armando Broja may get minutes at Stamford Bridge when he is fully fit. Chels’ are reportedly going to decline interest in the Albania international.
A few of Mauricio Pochettino’s men received some criticism from Nicol after the Newcastle United defeat. Midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu, England international Conor Gallagher and striker Nicolas Jackson are the trio in question:
"“They’ve got players playing that shouldn’t be playing in a team that’s supposed to be in the top four, let me put it that way. You know, Jackson up front isn’t good enough, Gallagher’s not good enough. Ugochukwu today showed that I don’t think he’s good enough.”"
Chelsea set to reject offer for Armando Broja, who seems to be in a perpetual struggle for fitness and playing time
Broja looked deadly from all positions at Southampton when on loan at St. Mary’s Stadium from the Blues. I am certainly not comparing the two, yet the Albanian seemed to almost score goals like Thierry Henry. The former occasionally glided in from the left or right flank and delicately or ferociously finished with aplomb on what appeared to be a regular basis. Since then I, at least, have wanted to see Broja in a blue shirt more regularly.
As he has been injured a lot and Chelsea is such a huge club, it would be no surprise to actually see Broja leave the west Londoners. That is in spite of his gifted talents. There is an elite striker there, whether he can do it consistently at the very top echelon remains to be seen. If it ever will be.
Although, it is said that CFC are keen to keep Broja, even if they have to reject decent offers for him in the process. And, most importantly, Mauricio Pochettino might perhaps increase the amount of action the rather unique centreforward is given. There is further information here about Broja possibly having a more prominent role and interest from Fulham.
