Chelsea and Real Madrid have received a boost in their potential pursuit of PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe. Despite surprisingly remaining in Paris this season, Mbappe’s reluctance to commit to a contract extension last summer has set the stage for a very likely exit. As a result, Europe’s elite clubs have been keenly monitoring the Frenchman’s situation and possibly preparing to bid a colossal sum in chase of the world-class forward.

Among potential suitors are Chelsea and Real Madrid. It’s the worst-kept secret that Madrid has long been seen as the inevitable next stop in Mbappe’s superstar journey.  Meanwhile, Chelsea are one of the handful of teams financially capable of a deal for the 24-year-old and were reportedly interested in a move for Mbappe during the summer. According to reports, both European giants now reportedly have one less competitor to worry about in the sweepstakes for the Ligue 1 star.

Sky Sport’s Florian Plettenberg has stated that Liverpool will not be pushing for Kylian Mbappe when he becomes available in 2024. According to Plettenberg, Real Madrid predictably remain the most realistic destination for Mbappe come next year or the next year after. As Chelsea remain financially capable of a deal for the world class forward, the Blues ranking as potential suitors should also rise. Although the realistic possibility of a move to Stamford Bridge for Mbappe, or a move to any Premier league side in general is slim.

The quality that a player of Mbappe’s caliber adds to this CFC side would be undeniable. The French forward is one of the best players in the world and bares a lethal goalscoring record with  15 goals in 13 Ligue 1 matches this season. From a purely attacking standpoint, the PSG man is among the most complete forwards in world football from his dribbling to his blistering pace and the ability to finish from anywhere in and out the box.

It has been reported that Blues owner Todd Boehly is keen on making a marquee signing for Chelsea since taking over, with Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo also previously being linked with moves to CFC. With Mbappe, despite the chances being slim, getting the French superstar to West London would equally be a game changer for the Blues on and off the pitch.
