3 Blues Chelsea need in its starting XI against Manchester United

3. Benoit Badiashile

There is more than just one “Big Ben” that call call London home. French defender Benoit Badiashile, to nobody’s surprise has been sensational since returning from injury in the EFL Cup against Blackburn Rovers. The 22-year-old is without question one of the center backs of the future, consistently delivering top-class displays with his prolific distribution.

At Stamford Bridge against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday, the ex-Monaco defender completed 33 of his 35 attempted passes. Rarely does he put a foot wrong. His composure is staggering. No. 5 is a force in the air, providing the Blue on the corner flag an obvious option to target. No, he isn’t just sitting back defending the goal. Badiashile has picked up two goal contributions in his last three contests.

Arguably the best part about him is the lack of drama around him. He’s not loud. He’s just class. The man knows football, and he knows it well. Coming off a match where United looked lifeless in attack, this is the last player ten Hag’s team wants to see.
