Fantasy Premier League players will be checking the availability of their selected players ahead of Friday’s deadline, with Chelsea assets attracting plenty of attention.
Football and Chelsea fans are largely putting that down to the Xabi Alonso factor, with many predicting the Spanish manager can transform the club’s fortunes. Chelsea will be targeting a top-four finish this season, and with that comes the potential for plenty of valuable FPL points.
With that in mind, we look at the best Chelsea options priced at £6m or under.
Maxence Lacroix - £6M
The centre-back signing from Crystal Palace is likely to partner Levi Colwill or form part of a back three should that be Xabi Alonso’s preferred system. A strong defensive foundation could be one of Chelsea’s biggest assets this season, with the Frenchman offering reliability, consistency and a strong chance of staying fit throughout the campaign.
Lacroix was the eighth-highest-scoring defender in Fantasy Premier League last season, finishing with 154 points. He was also the league’s third-highest-scoring defender for defensive contribution points, registering 40.
Danny Welbeck - £6M
Another new signing on the books, Liam Delap is likely to provide back-up for João Pedro but should still have plenty of opportunities from the bench or whenever the Brazilian is unavailable. He was a popular budget option last season, scoring 13 goals in 37 appearances and earning an impressive 126 FPL points.
Should João Pedro suffer an injury, Delap would become an obvious option for Chelsea fans. He is also worth considering for managers who have Erling Haaland in their squad and cannot stretch to £7.5m for Chelsea’s main striker.
Marco Palestra - £5M
Rounding off the list is another summer signing, with the Italian tipped to feature at left wing-back in our first predicted XI of the season.
Currently owned by just 2.7 per cent of Fantasy teams, he could be a huge differential for managers willing to take a chance. His ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch only adds to his appeal, with the Italian comfortable using either foot and possessing the pace to race up and down the flank. Much like Marc Cucurella, he has the potential to pick up defensive returns while also getting forward and contributing in attack, making him an intriguing option for Fantasy managers.
