3 Chelsea players who need to deliver in Copenhagen UECL clash

While it's been plain sailing in the Conference League so far for Chelsea, players will be using Thursday's game to regain some much needed form and build upon some poor performances of late.

Levi Colwill

Chelsea need a leader at the back and Levi Colwill needs to step up. There have been glimpses of his ability shown over the past two seasons but the Levi Colwill that was on loan at Brighton has not progressed into the dominant centre back that the club hoped for. It’s not easy following in the footsteps of legends like John Terry and Thiago Silva, but he has the potential to develop into these types of players.

Colwill has looked shaky at times this season and it is a part of his game that Chelsea fans thought wouldn’t be an issue. In his 25 appearances in the Premier League this season, Chelsea have only kept 5 clean sheets when he has played which is a low figure.

While the goalkeeping issue has had an impact on these stats, the defenders haven’t helped themselves at times either and Colwill should aim to become that central leader within that back four.

Colwill, like Palmer, has not yet featured in the side for the Conference League this season but will now take his place in the starting team from this moment on. After grabbing his first goal of the season against Southampton last week, Colwill should be coming into this game with confidence and will aim to bring that to his performance on Thursday.
