Noni Madueke
A potential beneficiary of teams paying more attention to Jackson and Palmer has been our most productive winger in 2023/24, Noni Madueke. Whilst he enjoys a great partnership with Palmer, Madueke is capable of bearing the weight of attacking expectations alone. He is hungry to make the right wing his own and return to starting week-in-week-out.
This was clear in our latest fixture against Legia Warsaw, a largely uninspiring match that saw Chelsea splutter through to the next round of the Conference League, Madueke was far from complacent. He appeared furious when Tyrique George failed to release him on a breakaway during a second-half chance that amounted to nothing.
That match may have been a throwaway, but the implications for our remaining fixtures are definitely meaningful. Players who are viscerally chasing victory, whether it's against Legia or Liverpool, are exactly what we want to see.
Fulham have shipped 8 goals in their last 4 games, the most recent being a well-taken, quick finish that came from Bournemouth’s right flank. All of our wingers have been criticised for being hesitant in front of goal, at times slowing down play instead of riding the momentum of attacking moves.
Noni Madueke wants to get back on the scoresheet and he will have an intriguing challenge beating Fulham's talented left-back, Antonee Robinson. Hopefully, our third top scorer has his shooting boots on and receives the service required to play with freedom and flare.
