We miss another creative player like Joao Felix or Jadon Sancho

Speaking of creativity and flair, the Blues definitely missed that today against a stubborn side that was content with parking the bus. Cole Palmer was unable to carry the creative load on his own and Chelsea desperately needed someone else to step up and create some magic.

That someone who would have been perfect for a match like this is Joao Felix who has been a flat track bully for the Blues against lesser competition. Felix has 7 goals for Chelsea this season and 6 of them have come against FC Noah, Panathinaikos, and Morecambe United.

All of these teams were content to sit back and absorb Chelsea’s attack and watch the Blues pass the ball aimlessly around the pitch. Felix thrives against these sides because he has the flair and creativity to penetrate a defense that gives him time and space to do so. He is not as effective against upper tier sides that press Chelsea when they have possession but he would have been perfect for this occasion.

Jadon Sancho could have been another choice as he was brought on after 72 minutes and the Blues leading 2-0 but a start may have been the better option. Similar to Felix he is generally willing to work his magic against stubborn defenders and is also adept at shooting from range. Perhaps in the second leg Sancho will get the start as Copenhagen will likely start in their defensive block before coming out their shell to chase the tying goal.
