Earlier this week Goal.com published their highly anticipated NXGN list and there were several familiar faces included. This exhaustive list of all the best teenagers in world football is a great barometer for young talent and their number one players in recent years has included Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo.
This year’s edition includes any players born on or after January 1, 2006 which makes us feel incredibly old and has a long list of academy and senior players plying their trade. Chelsea, with their incredible academy and recent transfer policy focusing on young talent has their fingerprints all over the list.
There are four current or future Chelsea players listed and several that have either spent time with the Blues or in the past or are currently being linked to them. The players included are as follows:
38. Josh Acheampong (Chelsea)
Josh Acheampong starts us off at number 38 and his place is well deserved considering his involvement with the senior team this season. He has made 8 appearances for the Blues across all competitions and has played both right back and centerback as an injury fill-in.
The English defender is a Cobham academy product and has been playing for the Blues since 2021-22 with the U-18s. He has plenty of talent and could be the man in the middle of Chelsea’s defense for years to come.
