Chelsea were considered dark horses for the Premier League title this season. However, they then lost to Leeds United, and followed that up with a draw against Bournemouth. This left the Blues eight points off the leaders, Arsenal.
Despite the money spent on Chelsea's roster, they are still a long way off from being in a position to win the league. More signings will be needed for Enzo Maresca's side to challenge the likes of Arsenal. Here are five transfers that Maresca would jump at the chance to sign, as unrealistic as they are.
5 Chelsea transfers Enzo Maresca would immediately make if the other side agreed
Kylian Mbappe
Despite signing Joao Pedro and Liam Delap over the summer, Chelsea could still do with having a star center-forward. Pedro has a good record for the Blues, but he is seen as more of an attacking midfielder or a second striker. Delap is yet to register a Premier League goal this season, but he is only 22 and still could be a Chelsea star of the future.
Kylian Mbappe is considered arguably the best player in the world. However, he still has a lot to do at Real Madrid. He is yet to win the Champions League and La Liga. TransferMarkt values Mbappe at €180,000,000, and he is under contract with Los Blancos until 2029.
William Saliba
Chelsea's back line has been a cause for concern this season. Due to injuries, especially Levi Colwill's, Maresca has been unable to have a consistent center-back partnership. This is the difference between Arsenal and Chelsea, as Mikel Arteta's side is built on a solid defence.
Maresca would take signing one of Arsenal's defenders. William Saliba may be injured right now, but when fit, he is one of the best center-backs in the world. There is, of course, no chance that the Gunners would sell William Saliba to a Premier League rival. Gone are the days of Arsenal being a selling club to fund the move to the Emirates Stadium.
Marc Guehi
Chelsea often overlooks their young players, and Marc Guehi is no exception. Since joining Crystal Palace, Guehi has become one of the best center-backs in the Premier League. He was close to joining Liverpool in the last transfer window and is in the final year of his contract.
Due to the Reds' poor performances this season, Guehi may be having second thoughts about joining them at the end of the season. This is where Chelsea could come into the picture.
Lamine Yamal
Chelsea already has one star teenager in Endrick, and the Brazilian even outshone Lamine Yamal of Barcelona when the two sides met in the Champions League. However, Yamal would still be a dream signing for the Blues.
It would, however, be almost impossible for Chelsea to sign him. Yamal is contracted to Barca until 2031. There is no chance that they would let their best player leave.
Jude Bellingham
Chelsea may have Cole Palmer as their talisman. However, if the opportunity arose, they would swap him for Jude Bellingham. This is, of course, another unrealistic transfer. Bellingham is one of Real Madrid's current Galacticos and has a deal with them until 2029.
We have yet to see Bellingham play in the Premier League. He burst onto the scene as a teenager at Birmingham City in the Championship. This led to his move to Borussia Dortmund before joining Real Madrid.
Bellingham has been underused by Thomas Tuchel for England recently, but he is still his country's most talented player. Maybe one day we will see him in the Premier League, but this appears a long way off.
