3. Filip Jörgensen Lets Everyone Down
Many Chelsea fans had been calling for Enzo Maresca to replace Robert Sánchez with Filip Jörgensen in goal. After a long wait, Jörgensen was finally made the first-choice goalkeeper, and all he needed to do was keep things simple, which he did well in previous matches despite the results not going Chelsea's way.
For most of the match against Aston Villa, Jörgensen was up to the task and made some nice saves to maintain Chelsea's lead in the first half. However, in the 89th minute, a weak shot slipped right through him, handing Villa the win.
Not only did that mistake cost Chelsea the match, but it also embarrassed those who had advocated for Jörgensen’s inclusion. While Sánchez had made numerous errors before being dropped, Jörgensen’s costly mistake raises questions about his reliability. It wasn’t an isolated incident either, he nearly gifted Brighton an open-net goal last week with a poor pass.
