A lot of speculation surrounds Chelsea at this point in time. We saw the club make progress last season, finishing fourth in the Premier League and also winning the Conference League to add some silverware to the cabinet, their first since the change of ownership. That being said, it would be a mistake to overlook the fact that the Blues' form in the second half of the season has been significantly worse than in the first. Based on their results in 2025, they are 7th.

At the start of the campaign, Chelsea were flying high and looking like Premier League contenders. But all the excitement around that team has been soaked out since then.

Enzo Maresca has failed to get the best out of Cole Palmer while someone like Malo Gusto also looks like a shadow of his former self in the Italian's system. There are a lot of worrying signs spread all around and the Blues must not ignore them. Instead, they must look to strengthen this summer.

One thing that Chelsea are missing right now is a right-footed winger. Jadon Sancho has departed while Mykhailo Mudryk might not be available anytime soon, leaving the Blues short on options. Jamie Gittens is believed to be their top target but now, rumours have emerged that Bayern Munich want to sign him.

Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update on the situation involving Gittens and Chelsea. He said while speaking on his YouTube channel:

"Bynoe-Gittens has an agreement with Chelsea on a seven-year contract; it's
all ready between Bynoe-Gittens and Chelsea. Now working club to club to try reach an agreement with Borussia Dortmund. So, Chelsea keep working on this deal, Chelsea keep advancing on this deal and keep considering Bynoe-Gittens as a priority target for them this summer."

So, while Bayern Munich have been linked with Gittens and Chelsea have been linked with a few other wingers, it looks like the Blues are still working on a deal for and considering the Borussia Dortmund youngster as their priority when it comes to signing a right-footed winger. Let's see if they can succeed in finding a club-to-club agreement soon.

Chelsea must be careful not to overpay, as they have done with so many players in recent years, which is why they are struggling to even compete at the highest level despite investing more than a billion into the squad. Their last offer for Gittens was believed to be in the region of €55 million.
