With merely weeks left in the summer transfer window, Chelsea need to move quickly to get their remaining business done. And it looks like there could be a decent bit of movement at Stamford Bridge between now and deadline day. Of course, most of the focus is on the signings of Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho, which could depend on the departures of players like Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson.
On the other hand, the centre-back situation is one worth keeping an eye on as well. Levi Colwill's injury has been a blow to Chelsea's plans for the season and Enzo Maresca seems keen on another central defender being brought in, although the media briefing seems to be that the Blues are happy with their options right now.
We could also see the departure of a few centre-backs before the end of this window. One of them is Axel Disasi.
Signed from AS Monaco for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of €45 million, Disasi has never really impressed at Chelsea, even though he played quite a bit under the management of Mauricio Pochettino. He recently spent time out on loan at Aston Villa but a permanent transfer did not materialise. Now, the Blues will be looking at other options.
Ajax interested in signing €45 million Chelsea player
Wolves have been heavily linked with Disasi in recent weeks. Somewhat unexpectedly, it looks like Ajax are involved in the race for his signature as well. As reported by The Chelsea Chronicle, Graeme Bailey said:
"Axel Disasi is on his way out a number of clubs have had talks, including Wolves and also am told Ajax – but he is considering options."
Ajax would certainly be a different kind of option for Disasi. Most people expect him to end up at a bottom-half Premier League club.
Let's see what the future holds for the Frenchman. One thing is for sure, he is not expected to get much playing time if he stays on at Chelsea, unless there is an injury crisis.
