AMATEUR Chelsea won't finish in PL top four - club legend

A Chelsea Football Club legend has made a startling accusation about the current Blues side. CFC boss Enzo Maresca won't like what the former defender of the west London outfit said of his apparently "amateur" defence and inept team at large on occasion. In addition to that, the outspoken retired professional doesn't believe CFC will actually fulfil their season aspiration of finishing in the Premier League's top four.

If the 47-year-old is proved correct, it may be an ultimately disappointing campaign for the well-wishing Chelsea fan base. However, if the statement doesn't become reality and the Stamford Bridge squad do play to their collective abilities under a seemingly wise and determined manager, Champions League qualification through the top-flight does appear to be within the Blues' reach. We shall certainly find out come June.

For those supporting Chels' as they entertained the Magpies on Fulham Road, there was much to be pleased with. In fact, I am of the opinion that Maresca's men are becoming increasingly entertaining to watch these days.

Ironically, whilst cruising to the Championship title during 2023/24 with Leicester City, the Italian was criticised for the way the Foxes regularly played. But all faithfuls have their overly heedful members who nit-pick every aspect. I suppose that's what we do here at The Pride of London, to be fair!

Anyway, Cole Palmer was electric at times as he returned to form and netted another goal to continue his fine season overall. Constantly improving striker Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring; Newcastle equalised through their own deadly goalscorer Alexander Isak.

But as I said earlier, CFC have shown that they are a force to be reckoned with once again. Will that finally see them successful again domestically, or even in Europe? And can they actually make the UCL? Let's hear what William Gallas has to say on the matter.

William Gallas on Blues' Champions League entry hopes and the squad in general - warning, it isn't pretty

Gallas was a two-time EPL winner with Chels. So, arguably, he must be listened to. That is, even if his opinions are difficult to read. And this time it won't be an easy read for some.

The Frenchman didn't like what he saw from the Blues versus Liverpool. And he wasn't the only one to have issues. So what did he say exactly?

"Chelsea won't finish in the top four. The defence is simply not good enough. The second goal that Chelsea conceded at Anfield, I’m sorry to say it, it was like watching an amateur team with amateur players. That defensive line was completely amateur."
