Goalkeeper and Defense

Filip Jorgensen: 4/10

Jorgensen has been set up by professionals in the game who are supposed to know better. It's one thing for highly reactionary fans to call for Robert Sanchez to be dropped due to lapses in distribution and concentration. It's another thing for the head coach to succumb to such calls and bring in a keeper who has made more errors per game and is averaging a much worse long-passing accuracy. Jorgensen did try his best, but he was at fault for Aston Villa's winning goal.

Malo Gusto: 5/10

Gusto was under a lot of pressure, which is not unusual for an away game against Aston Villa. He was shaky defensively and ended the game with one error leading to a shot and a separate one leading to a goal. His ball-carrying was poor as well, though his distribution was near impeccable.

Trevoh Chalobah: N/A

Chalobah went down eight minutes after the kickoff whistle. He did win the only duel he contested before then, but there's nothing to say about the Blues' No. 23.

Levi Colwill: 3/10

Colwill was poor, with these kinds of games becoming more common. His defending was poor, winning just 1/4 ground duels. There was no redeeming factor about his outing, as his distribution was also poor.

Marc Cucurella: 6/10

Cucurella had an okay performance. His distribution was very good, playing an important role in buildup and winning key duels. He was also busy defensively, which - again - makes sense because he came up against very talented wingers.
