Chelsea have brought in a number of talented youngsters in recent years following the change in ownership. In the recent transfer window as well, the club have added Brazilian wonderkid Estevao to their squad. The deal was agreed back in 2024 though, but the move was completed this summer, after he turned 18 years old.
Estevao has already burst onto the scene at Chelsea in a short period and was recently all over the news for his last-minute winner against defending Premier League champions Liverpool. Following that match, he headed to Brazil national team camp and is continuing to showcase his qualities there as well.
The five-time World Cup winners recently faced South Korea, where the 18-year-old was handed a start by Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti. Estevao delivered a mesmerising performance in the 5–0 win for Brazil, scoring two goals.
Chelsea fans certainly took notice of Estevao’s contributions for his nation and took to social media to voice their excitement. One made a bold prediction: "Our starboy is going to bring Ballon d'Or to Stamford Bridge."
Another user wrote suggested that Enzo Maresca should use Estevao more and feels that the player is ready for a bigger role. He posted: "How well this boy develops further ultimately depends on how Maresca uses him now. I understand he wants to ease him in gradually to take the pressure off him but there's absolutely nothing to be cautious about regarding this boy. Chelsea must unleash him now!! His Footballing ability is insanely overwhelming."
Chelsea fans react as Estevao scores two goals for Brazil
Estevao has appeared in six matches for Chelsea this season, scoring one goal and providing an assist. However, what’s more important than these numbers is the ease with which the youngster is playing at a club of this magnitude and under the expectations that surround him.
So it’s fair to say that the Brazilian has certainly looked capable of living up to the hype and may even exceed it. Chelsea seem to have found themselves a gem of a player, and this is just the beginning.
Estevao is expected be back with Chelsea’s squad before 18th October when the Blues face Nottingham Forrest. Before that, he could be given another chance for his nation when Brazil face Japan. It remains to be seen if the youngster could add some more goals under his belt in that matchup for his national team.
