It looks like two conditions will need to be met for FC Barcelona to let Fermin Lopez join Chelsea this summer.

For weeks, Chelsea had been linked with a move for Xavi Simons. So, it came as a bit of a surprise when news emerged yesterday that they had their eyes on and were considering a move. Some reports in Spain even claimed that an offer had already been made for the Barcelona midfielder. Now, it remains to be seen if it ends up going through or not.

Of course, this is not the first time that Chelsea have been linked with Lopez. We have talked about the Blues' interest in him a couple of times over the summer. But at no point did it seem this far down the line.

Barcelona are facing financial difficulties as well. So, the idea of getting a significant transfer fee for a player who is not a regular starter could be a tempting one for them. But for a move to happen, two conditions will need to be met.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, first, the player himself needs to request it. Second, a significant financial offer needs to arrive in line with typical Premier League figures. Barcelona will not let Lopez leave for less than €70 million.

Of course, Chelsea need to consider things carefully as well. Does it make sense for them to spend that kind of money on signing a squad option from FC Barcelona?

Yes, Lopez is a talent for sure. But the Premier League is a whole different ball game. We have seen plenty of silky midfielders arrive from La Liga and struggle to show their quality in the English game. That's just how it is sometimes.

Are Chelsea convinced that Lopez has the qualities to shine in the Premier League? Or should they stick to the plan and push for Simons instead?
