In an interesting turn of events, it looks like Borussia Dortmund could end up signing a Chelsea player before the Blues get a deal for Jamie Gittens over the line. A right-footed winger seems to be near the wishlist for the Stamford Bridge outfit, and they have already made multiple failed offers for the English winger.

Gittens is believed to be Chelsea's top target for that role. But if the transfer saga ends up dragging on much longer, the Blues might need to turn their attention elsewhere.

On the other hand, it appears that the German club might be closing in on a move for one of Chelsea's players. As reported by BILD (via ChelseaNews), Borussia Dortmund are close to reaching an agreement to extend the loan of Carney Chukwuemeka for next season.

Chukwuemeka joined Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the season in February of this year. Now, it looks like he might be set to spend another campaign with the Bundesliga giants.

It is believed that Chelsea would like to find a permanent transfer for Chukwuemeka. There is a £40 million release clause in his contract. But another loan deal looks like the most probable deal, as the English midfielder was not the most productive. As a result, it would be difficult to draw an offer of that magnitude for the midfielder right now.

A standout loan season with Borussia Dortmund and the picture could be different though. Just look at how things turned out for Ian Maatsen, who eventually ended up at Aston Villa.

Let's see if or when the deal for Chukwuemeka gets over the line. On the other hand, the Blues need to accelerate their move for Gittens as well, with Bayern Munich and Arsenal also being linked with him.
