Negatives

1. Missed chance to cement Champions League qualification spot

Ahead of the weekend, Chelsea needed a win to ensure they kept their place in the top five. Before they were in action, all three teams above them in the table had dropped points on Saturday. With multiple teams looking for their spot, it was a perfect situation for the Blues to move one step closer to the three teams above them.

However, the draw meant they were in danger of losing their lead over the following pack. Fortunately for them, Manchester City failed to win at Old Trafford, which meant Pep Guardiola's side remained below them. However, a win on Monday for Newcastle took them to the same points as Chelsea. Eddie Howe's side also has a game in hand.

With some difficult fixtures coming up and considering Chelsea's form over the last four months, it seems very difficult for them to get into a Champions League qualifying position. Among their next seven opponents in the league, apart from Newcastle United, they failed to win against any of the other sides. Also, they lost to Newcastle in the EFL Cup at St. James's Park, a result that is more likely to happen yet again
