Moises Caicedo is world class

When the Chelsea lineup was released this morning, the biggest concern was Moises Caicedo’s inclusion despite being one yellow card from a suspension. For Caicedo, fans were concerned that he would miss the crucial matches against Arsenal and Tottenham because of yellow card accumulation.

Given his position in front of the Chelsea back line, a yellow card is almost always part of the package but instead Caicedo delivered a man of the match performance. According to Squawka, Caicedo led all players in most duels won with 11, possessions won with 8, most tackles with 4, and managed to avoid a yellow card even with some last ditch tackles at the end of the match.

There were many grumbles about his price tag when the Ecuadorian made the move from Brighton to Chelsea but he has shaken off the pressure and grown into one of the best central midfielders in the world. The Blues would be lost without his mental and physical presence in the middle of the pitch and aside from scoring a goal nearly won this match singlehanded with his play.
