Although acquiring a striker was always a top priority, Chelsea are hoping to recruit more new players this summer after already signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town for £30 million. In order to bolster Enzo Maresca's team before the upcoming campaign, they are seeking a versatile forward, left winger, and centre-back.
Chelsea also need a replacement as Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku are both expected to leave this summer, and several names have been considered. The Blues have been linked with a few players recently, such as Hugo Ekitike, Joao Pedro, and Mohammed Kudus.
However, a new name has emerged as a Chelsea target, with the club being linked to Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers throughout the summer. But they are not the only ones looking to sign him.
As reported by TEAMtalk, Rogers remains a concrete transfer target for Chelsea and Arsenal, who are undeterred by his mammoth transfer valuation. Aston Villa want a whopping £80m or more but both London giants are confident that a deal could be struck for less than the quoted figure.
Chelsea and Arsenal make £80m Morgan Rogers transfer decision
Aston Villa is currently having trouble adhering to PSR criteria after missing out on Champions League football on the final day. They reportedly need to raise around £150-200m to avoid being penalised for overspending. And other clubs are keen to capitalise on the circumstances.
Rogers had a breakthrough season in 2024–2025 with 14 goals and 15 assists in 54 games across all competitions, including a Champions League hat-trick against Celtic. His 19 Premier League goal contributions have piqued the interest of several clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich.
Despite the interest, Unai Emery's side remain confident of keeping the 22-year-old as they believe there are other players at the club who are more likely to leave. That includes the likes of Jacob Ramsey and Leon Bailey.
Rogers would be an excellent addition to the Chelsea squad due to his ability to play on both wings and as a number 10. And in the end, Aston Villa's financial limitations might determine whether they can stick with their rising star or need to say goodbye.
