At the start of the season, Chelsea's biggest problem has been injuries. Levi Colwill suffered an ACL injury in pre-season training that could keep him out for the entirety of the campaign. Cole Palmer pulled out during pre-match warm-up for the game against West Ham United with a groin issue and it remains unclear when he'll be back. Liam Delap injured his hamstring against Fulham in the very next game and there are fears that it might be worse than first thought.
This international break has not been kind either. Moises Caicedo missed Ecuador's most recent game. On the other hand, Dario Essugo has picked up a muscle problem while training with the Portugal youth international team as well.
That is on top of all those who were already unavailable. So, all things considered, Chelsea have a lot of players out right now. There seems to be a positive update on this situation though.
With the international break ongoing, most of Chelsea's players are away. Preparations are underway at Cobham for the upcoming game against Brentford though. The club posted picture of their training session on the official website earlier and Benoit Badiashile and Romeo Lavia were among those out on the grass this afternoon.
Chelsea double injury boost as two players pictured in training
Both Badiashile and Lavia have had their fair share of injury problems since joining Chelsea. The hope is that things will improve for them this season.
Lavia can be a very important player in the middle of the park, potentially even a starter. He has always impressed when on the pitch but unfortunately, constant injuries have limited his availability and he is being linked with a move away to Manchester United as well.
On the other hand, Badiashile could have a much bigger role to play this season with Colwill out for the foreseeable future. Let's hope that both remain fit.
