Cole Palmer has been the talk of the footballing world following his incredible performance in the Club World Cup final in a 3-0 win for Chelsea against Paris Saint-Germain. PSG have multiple players who are expected to finish in the Ballon d'Or top ten. But in New York, there was only one man who looked capable of playing at those levels.

Of course, Chelsea had signed Palmer from Manchester City for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £40 million. That has proven to be a bargain and then some, as he has established himself as the face of the club.

Now, it looks like Chelsea have another Manchester City player in their sights. Will they be able to sign him? Also, will the Citizens be open to the idea of another one of their most highly rated youngsters joining the Blues?

According to The Chelsea Chronicle, Simon Phillips has reported via Substack that the Blues have made another ‘enquiry’ this week for Man City’s Nico O’Reilly. It is unclear in what position they would play the versatile Englishman if he joined.

Pep Guardiola is believed to be a big fan of O'Reilly. That being said, it is very tough to get consistent playing time for a team like Manchester City. That was the case for Palmer and just see how things have turned out for him since then.

So far, O'Reilly has played 21 times for Manchester City at the senior level. The 20-year-old has certainly impressed, scoring 5 times and adding a couple of assists as well.

Even more impressive is his ability to play all over the pitch. He has featured mostly at left-back but also played at centre-back, central midfield, in the number 10 role and as a centre-forward. Talk about being versatile.
