For years, Enzo Fernandez has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. This rumoured interest goes back to the 2022 World Cup, which Argentina won and he was named the Young Player of the Tournament. Back then, he was at Benfica but would go on to join Chelsea in the winter transfer window soon after that.

Fernandez has had an interesting career at Chelsea in the three years that have followed. In the beginning, he was seen as the next big hope who would control games and turn things around for the Blues.

But since then, he has developed into a combination midfielder, whose biggest strength is being in the right place at the right time with his late runs into the box. At the same time, he seems to be contributing more lately with his creativity as well, something that has been missing at times in the past.

Fernandez did not start the season well but he has been one of Chelsea's best player in recent weeks. And it looks like he has also decided on his future at Stamford Bridge, amid the interest from Real Madrid.

As reported by Aaron Ramiro, Fernandez has firmly rejected Florentino Perez's transfer advances after a key meeting with the player's entourage. Chelsea are also discussing an improved contract for the club's vice captain.

There is no doubt that Fernandez is a key player for Chelsea. He has faced his fair share of criticism over the years but seems to be in a good spot right now. Let's hope that he can maintain this level moving forward, if not take another step on his upward trajectory.

Also, it is good to see that he is not chasing a move to Real Madrid, like many players seem to do. He has already spent three years at Chelsea and has the potential to develop into a club legend one day, if he ends up playing an instrumental role in taking the Blues back to the top of the footballing mountain, which would be winning the Premier League and the Champions League.
