In recent years, we have seen Arsenal sign a lot of players from Chelsea. The latest example is that of Noni Madueke. Right before that, they brought in Kepa Arrizabalaga. But other than that, there are plenty of others who have made that journey. Some names that come to mind immediately are that of Petr Cech, David Luiz, Willian, Jorginho, Kai Havertz, William Gallas and Raheem Sterling.
Now, it looks like Chelsea have their eyes on a player who failed to make the grade at Arsenal. He has been enjoying a much better time since leaving the London club though.
The player we are talking about is Nuno Tavares. His stint at Arsenal was not great and he spent a large portion of it out on loan. He seems to have brought his career back on track since joining Lazio, though. Could it earn him a move back to the Premier League and London?
As reported by Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Chelsea, Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter have tried to test the waters in signing Tavares. The Roman club want €50 million to part ways with him.
Chelsea eyeing move for €50 million-rated Arsenal flop
Lazio have made a poor start to this season. It is believed that Maurizio Sarri is hoping to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window.
In order to do that, the club might have to say goodbye to a few players first though. And Tavares is one who could be on his way out of Rome if the right offer arrives.
Of course, any move on the part of Chelsea would be a risky one. We have already seen Tavares struggle in the Premier League. Although he is doing well in Italy, that does not mean that he will automatically have a better time in England if given a second chance.
