With each passing day, we're getting closer to the winter transfer window, and the rumours have started circulating. And like all other clubs, Chelsea are also said to have stepped up their scouting operations. However, it seems like they've turned their attention towards Portugal this time, with reports coming that they have identified a pair from FC Porto as potential targets.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Chelsea are planning for FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa and midfielder Victor Froholdt. It could take around €150 million to sign the duo.

The first name on Chelsea’s radar is Samu, which is a familiar one, as he has been a long-standing target of the Blues. The 21-year-old almost joined the club in a €40m deal last summer, but the transfer collapsed at the last step, and he left Atletico Madrid for Porto instead. On the other hand, the Blues ended up signing Joao Felix but it was the wrong decision. He spent time out on loan at AC Milan before joining Al-Ittihad recently.

Samu broke into the spotlight last season with an incredible 27 goals in all competitions, garnering him considerable recognition as one of the Primeira Liga's best forwards. He has already scored 10 goals this season, making him one of Europe's most sought-after young strikers.

However, Porto are believed to be determined to hold onto their star striker, particularly in the middle of the season. The club have no intention of negotiating a discount, which means Chelsea might have to pay the entirety of his release clause if they want him.

Chelsea's second target is Froholdt, whose impressive performances have caught the eye this season. He has started every league game for Porto and looks like a real box-to-box presence in the middle of the park.

Froholdt could complement Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo. He has a €85 million release clause, but the report claims that he could be signed if an offer in the region of €50-€60 million is made.

Chelsea are looking to bolster their squad with both forward and midfield reinforcements. Furthermore, they are not the only club interested in the duo, with Tottenham Hotspur interested in Samu and Atletico Madrid eyeing Froholdt.

With Porto’s firm stance and the competition heating up, Chelsea may need to act quickly and decisively to prevent losing out on these starlets. Let's see if they make their move in January or not.
