The Need for Cole Palmer to Step Up

It is unfair to expect Cole Palmer to carry the team every time, However, taking into account the poor form of his teammates, Chelsea needs him to be the difference-maker once again. Last season, there were occasions where Palmer single-handedly decided the outcome of Chelsea’s matches. This season, Maresca’s system has limited his influence, but he remains, without a doubt, the club’s best attacking player.

Palmer will have to take over the match so without the help of some key players including Nicolas Jackson who has been influential even when not scoring goals. He has put the team on his back many times before and this is a great opportunity for him to have a repeat performance against Brighton.

In the reverse fixture, Palmer had a historic performance, scoring four goals in the first half alone, becoming the first player in Premier League history to achieve such a feat. The reigning Premier League Young Player of the Year will have to deliver another standout performance especially given how poorly Chelsea is playing at the moment.
