Chelsea fans will notice what Liam Rosenior wouldn’t say about Sanchez

Liam Rosenior is on the brink of the biggest match of his managerial career and knows he has some big decisions to make.

Chelsea have travelled to France, where they will play Champions League holders PSG in the first-leg of a mouth-watering Last 16 knockout tie.

The Blues will not want to leave Paris facing an uphill task in the reverse leg so Rosenior will need to get it right from the first whistle.

But there are some big questions the 41-year-old has to find answers to before kick off at the Parc des Princes, including which goalkeeper to start in between the sticks.

Liam Rosenior not ruling out dropping Robert Sanchez

Rosenior made a big call in Chelsea's last Premier League match away to Aston Villa.

The Chelsea boss dropped Robert Sanchez and brought in Filip Jorgensen before recalling the Spaniard against Wrexham, and that rotation has left fans wondering which keeper is going to get the nod against PSG.

Speaking to Chelsea's official website, Rosenior admitted both keepers are in contention.

"With this squad, every position is a difficult decision. That is how it has to be to be successful. We have a squad full of top, top players - not even the starting XI, making a decision of who is on the bench is difficult. That’s the job I’m here to do.

So we’ll make that decision on the goalkeeper position as we would in terms of the number nine, ten or seven. I’ve said before, the goalkeeper position is no different to an outfield position. I’ll pick what I think is the right choice for each game and you’ll see what decision I make tomorrow when the team sheet comes out."

Chelsea's lineup will be officially announced around one hour before kick-off and all eyes will be on who starts in goal — Sanchez or Jorgensen.

New goalkeeper almost certain in the summer

Rosenior must work with what he has from now until the end of the season, but the 41-year-old is almost certain to bring in a new number one in the summer.

The minute a manager switches out his first choice keeper in a huge game such as Villa away, you just know there is underlying uncertainty.

Sanchez has not performed as he was expected to following his transfer from Brighton two years ago, and with the side's defence also in need of some new additions, Chelsea cannot afford to have so much uncertainty surrounding the man at the back.

Sunderland's Robin Roefs has been floated as a possible summer target in recent days but it remains to be seen if negotiations will commence once the window opens.
