Chelsea's Opponent – Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur conceded 21 shots in their last game against Bournemouth—only Leicester City and Southampton faced more shots in GW14. Currently sitting 10th in the table, Spurs are tied with Arsenal as the third-highest scoring team this season, with 28 goals. At home, they’ve been particularly strong offensively, scoring 17 goals while conceding just seven across seven matches.
Spurs have had a mixed run of form in their last 10 league games, winning five, drawing one, and losing four. When they’ve won at home, they’ve done so emphatically — scoring three or more goals in all their league victories at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season. Furthermore, they’ve only conceded more than one goal at home on a single occasion, underscoring their defensive solidity on familiar turf.
This combination of firepower and resilience makes Spurs a formidable opponent, especially when they hit their stride.
GW15 plans
Chelsea fans have plenty to smile about this season, as the team continues to impress with strong performances. Until recently, the squad had essentially been divide into two groups —one competing in the UEFA Europa Conference League and the other focusing on Premier League matches. However, with a congested December fixture schedule ahead, manager Enzo Maresca is expected to rotate his squad to maintain player freshness while striving for maximum points to put pressure on League Leaders, Liverpool.
That happened in the last game against Southampton, when Maresca made seven changes to the team that defeated Aston Villa at the Bridge.
When asked about his team selection for the upcoming game week, Maresca jokingly replied, "Sánchez and 10 other players," keeping his cards close to his chest.
Players to Target
Cole Palmer
Despite an impressive display against Southampton, Cole Palmer managed just one goal from an xG of 1.49, with four shots on target. A combination of poor finishing from his teammates denied the former Manchester City academy star the chance to accumulate even more points.
Palmer has been a revelation this season, becoming only the second player to surpass the 100-point mark after Mohamed Salah. Currently sitting on 107 points with over 58% ownership, he is the second-most popular player in the league behind Salah (151 points, 61.3% ownership). Palmer has contributed nine goals and six assists in just 14 league games, further highlighting his importance to Chelsea’s attack.
With an xGI of 11.01, Palmer ranks just behind Salah and Haaland in expected goal involvement, making him a key asset in FPL.
This week, he is projected to score 5 points and remains one of the top contenders for the captaincy armband.
Nicolas Jackson
Nicolas Jackson boasts 27.8% ownership in FPL this season, accumulating 78 points—making him the 8th highest-scoring player overall. Among forwards, only Erling Haaland, Chris Wood, and Matheus Cunha have managed to outscore him so far.
With eight goals and four assists to his name, Jackson has been a consistent contributor to Chelsea's attack. Rested in the midweek clash against Southampton, he is expected to be fresh and ready to exploit Tottenham's high defensive line in GW15.
Jackson also has a history of thriving against Spurs, having scored a hat-trick against them last season. Fantasy managers will be hoping he can replicate that performance this time around
Robert Sánchez
Robert Sánchez has accumulated 52 points this season, ranking fifth among goalkeepers despite having played one game fewer than his peers. He was rested in midweek, with Maresca handing Filip Jörgensen a well-deserved start against Southampton after impressing in UEFA Conference league matches.
However, Sánchez is expected to return to the starting lineup this game week, as hinted by Maresca during his press conference. With Chelsea’s favourable fixture list extending up to GW22, when they face Manchester City at the Etihad, Sánchez remains a solid long-term option for FPL managers.
Players to Monitor
Enzo Fernández
Enzo Fernández is in the form of his life, delivering attacking returns in four consecutive league games. Over the last four game weeks, the Chelsea vice-captain has contributed three assists and two goals, showing the talent that prompted Chelsea to invest heavily in securing his services from Benfica in 2023.
However, with Maresca likely to rotate his squad again against Spurs, Fernández’s minutes aren’t guaranteed. Despite this, his price tag of just £4.9M makes him an intriguing option for FPL managers looking for value in midfield.
Noni Madueke
Noni Madueke has accumulated 68 points so far, just behind Palmer and Jackson in the Chelsea rankings, despite playing fewer minutes—928 compared to Palmer's 1208 and Jackson's 1025.
With five goals and three assists in the league this season, Madueke has proven to be a real threat in Chelsea's forward line, and his potential for more game time could make him a key FPL asset moving forward.
Captain Pick
Cole Palmer is a strong captaincy candidate for this game week, even with Chelsea facing Spurs away. He’s coming off a standout performance, having returned 21 points in his last two game weeks, and his current form makes him a top choice for the armband.
