The 2025-26 season has just about started and the list of injuries seems to be never-ending for Chelsea. Since then, players like Cole Palmer, Liam Delap, Tosin Adarabioyo, Romeo Lavia and more have also spent their share of time on the sidelines.
That has left Chelsea in a bad spot. They are in seventh in the Premier League, have three points from two games in the Champions League and barely got past League One opposition in the Carabao Cup.
Now, as if all these issues weren’t enough, Chelsea have been handed a further injury blow if reports are to be believed. And it might be to one of their brightest sparks in what has been a pretty dull campaign so fr.
According to Globo (via Sports Mole), it is possible that Estevao will not be a part of Brazil’s squad to take on Japan. The player is said to have come down with the flu and will be assessed in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Estevao has been putting in incredible performances day in and day out lately for both his club and country. Most recently, he scored the winning goal for Chelsea against Liverpool, sending the Stamford Bridge fans into euphoria. In the last matchup for Brazil, the youngster also netted a brace, further highlighting his ability and talent.
Nevertheless, this news of the player having the flu is surely a setback, even if a minor one. That said, it’s thankfully not an injury, which is a relief for sure.
Fans will certainly hope that the 18-year-old youngster comes back to action as soon as possible. Chelsea face Nottingham Forest next in the Premier League on October 18, and Estevao’s availability will be something the fans keep an eye on. It remains to be seen if he can make a full recovery before that matchup.
