Chelsea need some more firepower up top. That bit has been clear for years now. The club have never really replaced Diego Costa. The likes of Alvaro Morata, Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku and plenty of others have been brought in in big-money deals without much positive result. Most fans would have liked to see them sign Victor Osimhen, but the Blues went a different route, signing a couple of forwards in the form of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
The results have been mixed. Pedro started brilliantly, playing a starring role in the Club World Cup win. But then his form flat-lined and he struggled for a few months. Lately, he has found a bit of form once again though, scoring four times in his last five Premier League starts.
Delap has been a bit better in recent weeks as well. But all things considered, one cannot overlook the fact that he has scored just two goals this season. That is not the return that Chelsea would have been hoping for when they shelled out £30 million to sign him.
So, most fans believe that the club need another striker. And it looks like one from the Bundesliga is on their radar, if reports coming out of Spain are on the mark.
Chelsea leading race to sign €30 million Bundesliga striker
As reported by Fichajes, Chelsea are leading the race for Fisnik Asllani. The Hoffenheim striker has a €30 million transfer valuation.
Asllani is someone Chelsea had been linked with back in the summer as well. Nothing materialised back then. Will that change this winter? Until now, the club have only been linked with centre-backs and midfielders in this window.
One also needs to mention Asllani's recent struggles in front of goal. In the first five Bundesliga games of the season, he had managed four goals. But in the next 13 matches, he has scored just twice. Is that someone who will score consistently in a Chelsea shirt?
